Smart Devices for Parents in Keeping Cool

The only negative drawback to baseball is the seasonal heat one is subjected to during the summer months. Although this usually does not pose much of a problem for the children involved in the sport, many parents of the children are forced to sit through hours of sun basting and sweat. Perhaps the best way for a parent to stay cool during the baseball season would be to just not go at all; however, given the nurturing state, which most parents embody, such an option is unavailable. Unfortunately, the summer heat experienced by parents at baseball games also tends to fire-up the tempers in some individuals. This has even been the case in recent history, as several incidents involving helicopter parent meltdowns have been reported throughout the U.S.

Essentially, such temper-driven parents need to take a deep breath and obtain the simple perspective that little league sports are geared toward kids having fun, not for a hothead control freak to vicariously build a low self-esteem through petty violence. Thus, in order to beat the heat and combat these summer-induced temper tantrums, many different individuals have utilized many different methods in order to cool themselves down. Such methods are wide and diverse with cooling applications ranging from practical, to comical. Depending on your style, there are many different cooling methods in which to combat a heat related temper-tantrum.

Practical/Historical Methods:

1. Perhaps older than Western Civilization itself is the method of cooling oneself by utilizing a hand-held homemade fan. Before the invention of paper this method was implemented by using a large tree leaf, such as a palm tree; however, while attending a baseball game in the modern-world perhaps the best method of cooling oneself would be to construct a paper fan. These can be made from any type of paper material such as an event program. This is usually done by repeatedly folding a piece of paper over itself and then fanning out one of the ends to be used as a fanning surface plane. This method of cooling has stuck over the years and to this very day one can see such a process used to defuse over-heating at baseball diamonds across America.

2. Even older than constructing a self-propelled fanning device is the cooling method of removing ones article and/or articles of clothing. When an individual sweats, it is the body’s natural cooling method. When this perspiration comes in contact with wind, it will effectively lower one’s body temperature. Thus, when someone leaves their shirt on, heat is trapped inside and this process may not take place. Any more such a practice is not implemented that often as societal factors have deemed such an act to be inappropriate; however, if you get hot enough you’ll no doubt find this approach to keeping cool very useful – and hey, if the heat ends up being too much to handle and you end up losing you temper anyway, you’ll be ready to go fist-a-cuffs with those opposing Dads.

3. Another practical method to keep cool while watching your child’s baseball game is by consuming an excessive amount of cold liquid. Doing so will effectively allow you to cool your internal body temperature. This is the case because when one ‘s temperature rises, their body begins to sweat. This sweat effectively causes you to loose water through the process of perspiration. Without the proper amount of water the human body will lose its ability to act as a self-cooling mechanism; therefore, consuming plenty of cool liquids effectively replenished molecular hydration and will allow you to stay cool.

Since the invention of the air conditioning unit in the early 20th Century, the human race has effectively desensitized themselves to heat. Thus, in accordance with this many other technological inventions have been construed in order to combat over-heating while being outside amidst the sun. Perhaps the best technological device one may use to keep cool is the hand-held fan. Having one of these at a baseball game will make your overheating worries blow away in the wind.
